“DOBROVO, Slovenia—July 21, 2015— Lesizza Gold 22k has just been announced. The wine comes in two types: Chardonnay and Rosé. It is meant to be a wine for special moments, at an affordable price. Could be a good surprise for a romantic dinner, guests at a wedding celebration, or a business dinner !?!
Lesizza Gold 22k is a still wine with 22-karat edible gold, developed by Egon & Susana Lesizza. Our passion for wine and the picturesque landscapes of the spectacular region of Goriška Brda, Slovenia were the source of our inspiration, and so was born our private label.
The wine is produced by the biggest wine factory Vinska Klet Goriška Brda in Slovenia, founded in 1957, one of the most award-winning wineries in the country. The “Goriška Brda” Wine Cellar manages 1200 hectares of vineyards in the Goriška brda region. The largest share of vineyards is planted with the autochthonous Brda variety Rebula (27%) which is followed by Merlot (20%), Chardonnay (16%) and Sauvignonasse (12%).
Since the Goriska Brda is a hilly region without flat surfaces, more than a third of vineyards are terraced facing the sun. On certain parts of the hills, the terrace gradient exceeds 50%. In damp areas and where the soil is heavier, the vineyards are grassed, which results in a steady growth of vines improving the quality of the grape crop.
The new system of the preparation of terraces and a new method of planting vines has enabled them to increase the density of vines from 3,000 to 5,000 per hectare or more. With the same yield per hectare, the higher density of vines has allowed to take the load off individual vines. This translates into an increased concentration in the grapes of sugar.
The climate in the Goriska Brda is particularly favourable for the growth of vines, since the Brda region faces the sea. It is thus considerably exposed to its climatic influences. The sea is only 20 km away and can be easily seen from the prominent Soca Plateau between the Brda region and the Adriatic Sea. Higher hills in the north and a slightly elevated limestone ridge in the east protect the Brda region against north winds and the cold.
Winemakers from Goriška Brda developped the blends so that the taste of the wines is elegant. However, before Lesizza Gold 22k can be enjoyed by everyone, we need help. That is why we launched a crowdfunding campaign. The goal of this project is to raise $35,000 by August 13th 2015. The funds will go towards marketing and promotion.
The Chardonnay & Rosé grapes for Lesizza are harvested by hand. The fermentation and maturation happen 100% in stainless steel tanks.
The Chardonnay has an enjoyable varietal aroma, reminiscent of apple, melon, peach, and pineapple. The after-taste is lengthy and velvety.
Lesizza Gold 22k Rosé is fruity and medium-bodied with an acidity giving it a characteristic freshness. The bouquet is composed with cherry, raspberry, blackcurrant and strawberry bush.
