Tasting Notes:
An intense and spicy nose appeals to the senses with notes of dark berries and plum for the fruity part. But more importantly, there are savory earth (pit) and spices (clove is dominant) notes. It smells deep and interesting.
The palate doesn’t disappoint with smooth, fine, and quite dense tannins. It surprises even with a sustained acidity that is not aggressive but brings and keeps the mouthfeel to life all along the tasting. The wine feels like the crisp and slightly vegetal acidity one finds when eating acidic berries like blueberries. Though obviously, there’s more depth and complexity from the earthy and oaky flavors. Oaky notes are perfectly integrated providing sweet spices notes, vanilla, as well as a marked wood ashes tone.
A very good Northern Rhone Syrah, refined, acidic, a touch vegetal, yet full of intense flavors and aromas with many layers of complexity.
Food Pairing:
It’s actually very good to enjoy by itself, the sweet fruit and sweet spcies notes making up for the overall dryness of the wine and making it feeling well balanced on its own. But meat dishes and cheese are perfect partners.
When to Drink?
Although it’s young, it’s already good to drink now with the wine’s smooth tannins. To deepen the earthy notes and depth, store for 2 to 3 years.
