Score: 88/100
Tasting Notes:
A very fragrant New Zealand Chardonnay from the famous Marlborough region, fresh and lemony, with also plenty of leesy and oaky notes.
No need to smell hard to have a wealth of aromas jumping out of your glass: pear, lime, sweet and lifted spices like nutmeg and white pepper, aromas from the contact with lees (dough and hazelnut), as well as integrated oaky characters with the vanilla aroma leading.
It’s acidic but balanced by a distinct sweetness. It feels dry overall but one can taste a clear touch of sugar. The palate is also packed full of flavors, rather long and complex.
Overall:
A pretty good wine, hybrid between a fruit-driven wine filled with primary fruit flavors, and a leesy oaky one.
If a glass of wine counts as a serving of fruit, then this Chardonnay is worth a couple servings. Worth going back to… 😉
