2015 Spy Valley Pinot Noir Rosé, Marlborough
With a pretty pale and bright salmon-orange color, this Pinot Noir Rosé displays fresh white fruit aromas on the nose (esters): pear, pink apple. It smells like a fresh white-fruit salad, with a hint of pomegranate and strawberry aromas too.
It’s super fresh also on the palate, driven by a solid acidity.
It feels dry but balanced by a touch of discrete sweetness. An oily texture rounds up the mouthfeel. As for the palate’s flavors, the fresh fruits are complemented by delicate herbal and grassy notes: rhubarb and gooseberry that recall the wine’s origin in just-ripe Pinot Noir grapes.
A real enjoyable ‘Vin de Soif’ as we say in French: a wine of thirst.
Refreshing, dry, acidic, yet balanced and complex enough without being complicated. All you need to wash down summery foods and nibbles at your festive events and gatherings.
