Score: 85/100
Tasting Notes:
The wine is of a rather pale lemon yellow color, quite grey in fact.
Like in most Muscat wines, aromas are upfront fruity: nectarine, apricot, elderflower. It’s lively on the nose, floral, but not over-the-top so. Delicate pear notes and a certain aromatic minerality maintain some elegance to the primary bouquet.
On the palate, it’s overall dry for a Muscat, no marked sweet sugars here. But there is some clearly perceptible sweetness upfront. This is well balanced by a good acidity making the whole feel crisp and refreshing.
Like on the nose, flavors are typically-Muscat, in a typical-Alsace way. That is to say that it is not the Southern powerfully ripe and extravagant Muscat expression. This is a slightly vegetal, somehow restraint for the grape, somehow cold too, acidic and mineral.
Overall
A rather delicate refreshing easy-to-drink Alsace Muscat wine. It is filled with al the Muscat goodness, but in a almost-dry style perfect for appetizers and long summery nights.
Tasted right on the first day of 2016 summer (#FirstDayOfSummer it is today), an approachable easy-to-drink and easy-to-enjoy floral and fruity wine.
So enjoy 🙂
