The Estate Riesling by Hugel is a selection of grapes from vineyards on the family’s estate situated around the village of Riquewihr in Alsace.
Soils in the area are marked by the dominant presence of marls generally providing breadth to Alsatian Rieslings.
Most of the plots chosen for this ‘Estate’ wine are being converted into Organic viticulture.
Tasting Notes:
Intense floral and herbal smell, anise and lemon, fresh grass too. A good spectrum of aromas in the delicate ones range, yet delivered here with solid intensity.
One the palate, the balance is most definitely driven by the acidity, accentuated by a few biting phenolics.
Some enjoyable minerality. Slightly bitter finish.
