This rosé wine is made by Château la Tulipe de la Garde, a winery situated between Saint-Emilion and the Dordogne River in the Bordeaux region of France and owned by Dutch rock star Ilja Gort.
The grapes for this Slurp rosé though come from the Languedoc-Roussillon area of France, under the Pays d’Oc appellation.
It claims to be a natural wine. The label suggests an easy-going approach to it (see label images below): “Enjoy its ripe juicy flavours. Easily enjoyed anytime, just a great wine for a great price. This wine hasn’t flown halfway round the world which is better for the environment too. This wine is pure natural as well as gorgeous to drink.”
Tasting notes :
This rosé comes in a pink salmon color, a little pale putting it right in the trending Cotes de Provence look, generally associated with dry juicy wines.
The nose is rather neutral at best, not as sexy as the color unfortunately!
One would perhaps find a little pear and strawberry aromas, but also not so enjoyable hay characters.
The palate display a solid acidity, well balanced by just a touch of sweetness though it overall feels dry. Quite juicy, salivating, and almost savory to the finish thanks to delicately green tannins giving it a nice refreshing vegetal touch.
The juiciness is accentuated by plenty of citrus flavors, lime and grapefruit underlines the wine’s tangy feel for an overall impression of freshness.
I regretted finding these hay vegetal characters in the mouth as well, giving this wine otherwise fresh and crispy rosé a rustic edge.
Distinctive salty finish.
Enjoy 🙂
