Score: 87/100
This Rioja Joven wine is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes.
Fermentation was conducted in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature of around 25ºC.
Maceration on skins lasted for approximately 12 days before the wine aged for 4 months in American oak wine barrels before bottling.
Tasting Notes
This Joven Rioja wine comes in a bright red color of medium intensity.
The nose smells intensely like vanilla though, perhaps a little too dominant a note. But there’s solid red berries aromas too, green and white pepper, clove, nutmeg and other spices. A lifted, fruity and sweetly spicy smell overall.
Medium body and tannins of medium concentration give a wine with plenty of fruity character and good acidity. Red fruit flavors and sweet spices are here also dominant and end on a rather drying slightly vegetal finish.
Overall
A well-made Joven Rioja wine in a modern approachable style that delivers in a combination of ripe fruit characters and oaky spices.
Enjoy 🙂
