Tasting Notes
This sweet white wine from the South-Western Gascony region of France comes in a bright and very shiny gold color, mid-intensity but appealing.
The nose is filled with loads of tropical fruits: pineapple and passion, as well as plenty of quince.
An appealing smokiness appears here too giving the powerful tropical fruit aromas a caramel-like edge, like a pineapple tart that would have caramelized/slightly burnt on the top. Tempting, although this comes with somewhat of a burnt tire smell too to the background which is less elegant.
The palate is medium-sweet, with good acidity but light body. More importantly, in addition to The pleasing tropical and stone fruit flavors, there’s a sticky sulphuric kick to the palate.
Too much SO2 (sulphur dioxyde) has obviously been used here. Heavy/cabbage to taste and you can feel the headache starting after a half-glass.
Could be very satisfying if you’re not sensitive to Sulphur. Otherwise… 🙁
Enjoy 🙂
