Tasting Notes
This Austrian Grüner Veltliner white wine comes in a bright and shiny lemon-yellow color.
Its nose also shines with dominant zesty lemon and lime aromas, very fresh and fruity. Touches of vegetal grass, but on the enjoyable side as they lift up the zestiness even further, like in the smell of lime the green element plays an important role.
Some white pepper but also apricot adding some depth and complexity to the aromatic profile.
Crisp and zesty the palate is too, with crystalline acidity underlining the dominant lemon flavors. Mid-body with a slight oily texture, it’s mainly fresh, dry and crisp without being aggressive. Simply fresh.
The finish, as the wine warms up on the mouth, brings up ripe fruit flavors, touches of tropical (pineapple and mango) as well as cooked stonefruit (apricot and peach).
Overall
A rather concentrated white wine with enjoyable and approachable balance in a dry and super-zesty style.
Wine & Food Pairing?
Great to enjoy on its own thanks to its smooth body-Vs-acidity balance but also the nice citrus/-Vs-ripe fruit equilibrium. It is also the perfect wine style for matching with seafood dishes, like fresh oysters or creamy scallops.
