Score: 87+/100
This Rioja wine is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes, and aged for 6 months in American oak wine barrels.
Tasting Notes
This Rioja red comes indeed in a bright red color, looking bright and youthful, quite dark.
The nose is dominated by fruity characters of red berries, fresh and vibrant ones, as well as quite a wealth of oaky notes. Vanillas, clove and plenty of peppery spices populate the aromatic profile.
It’s pleasant to smell at, with touches of vegetal character, like tomato leaf, a little chili-like amplifying the wine’s spicy smell.
Medium-bodied, it is fairly concentrated, and quite smooth with a round body and oily texture. Tannins a little edgy to the finish but enjoyable while the flavors burst with fresh fruit characters: pomegranate and ripe cherry.
Overall
A well-made and pleasant Rioja red, unpretentious and non-complicated, but well executed driven by fruit characters and plenty of spices that will make it a great pairing with grilled meats and tapas.
Enjoy 🙂
