Tasting Notes
This Northern Italian Merlot wine comes in a rather intense red color, with a wealth of purple hues darkening it.
It smells intensely fruity, in a typical fresh cherry, lightly caramely fashion. Such a vibrant fresh berry juice nose!
Add hints of white pepper AND white chocolate providing respectively both a savory spicy edge and an even yummier feel, and you’re in for an appetizing aromatic profile.
The palate is, as the first impression, smooth and oily, nicely coating your palate with a silky/velvety feel. After a few seconds in your mouth though, tannins appear to have some biting grip. They are indeed more granulous than first anticipated. But it’s not actually a bad thing, as it provides the wine with a characterful edge, amplified by a pleasant savory bitterness to the finish.
The wine is otherwise overall soft, delivering plenty of bursting fresh berry flavors lifted up by intense black and green pepper notes. Juicily fruity and warmly spicy too.
Clear sweet notes of vanilla and hazelnut betray that a wealth of quality oak must have gone into its making.
Overall
A vibrant and bursting fruity Merlot. Juicy and grippy, it makes you salivate and want to go for more at every sip, mellowed by delicious ripe cherry and chocolate flavors, noticeable oak.
Dense, ripe and soft, it satisfies by its upfront approach to the grape variety, filled with a wealth of primary fruit characters, and amplified and deepened by plenty of spices and oaky toasty notes.
When to Drink?
Drink now to enjoy its fruity personality, or within 3 to 5 years if you’d like touches of leather and the deeper spices that are likely to develop within this timeframe.
Enjoy 🙂
