Score/Rating: 90/100 points
This Reb’L Côtes du Roussillon Rosé wine, from the South of France, is made from a blend of 90% Grenache with 10% Syrah grapes grown using biodynamic viticulture and picked by traditional hand picking into small crates.
Tasting Notes
This rosé wine from French border with Spain on the Mediterranean Coast comes in a very vibrant pink color, quite intense with both some purple and salmon hues, some golden reflections make it look shiny and appealing.
The nose feels quite restrained, filled with discrete red berry notes, acacia leaves and delicate strawberry lolly aromas.
The palate feels very very smooth and rounded, with a very oily texture that coats your palate enjoyably. This is a rich and quite powerful rosé boasting a solid 14% alcohol. But the acidity is also well sustained here and provides plenty of freshness backing up the flavor and body concentration.
A wealth of spicy notes of white pepper, plenty of enjoyable savory vegetal notes of acacia leaves and celery complement pungent fruity notes of fresh blueberry and citrus notes (pink grapefruit and limy lemon).
The finish is sweet and savory, with the fruity flavors dominating the aftertaste and providing a sensation of ‘sweetness’ although the wine is perfectly dry. Delicate velvety tannins give a slight drying feel and hints of bitterness for the savory side of the finish, suggesting this is a great wine for pairing with food.
Overall
A very pleasant and well-made rosé wine, powerful and pungent in a very dry yet opulent style. Delightful color serves a wine filled with concentrated yet delicate flavors.
Fruity and zesty, its acidity is crisp and refreshing while a round body balances with opulence and richness, always delivering subtle and delicate flavors and a food-friendly texture.
Drink now and within 2 years (2019).
Enjoy 🙂
