Score: 89/100
This Prosecco made by Corvezzo in the Veneto region and called ‘Terre di Marca’ comes with a few qualifications:
- Millesimato: Italian for Vintage, it means the wine is made from grapes from a single year/harvest, 2016 in the wine reviewed here
- Organic wine: or Bio as they say in Europe
- Extra-Dry: which means it’s quite dry (12 to 17 grams per litre of sugar), but not as dry as a Brut would be, learn about sugars levels with our article about sparkling wines
- Treviso: which means it’s produced under the Prosecco DOC of north-eastern Italy, specifically from vineyards within the Treviso province of Veneto.
But, how good is Corvezzo Terre di Marca Prosecco?
Tasting Notes
This organic Prosecco comes in a bright lemon-yellow color with slight green hues, looking shiny and clear.
The nose also shines through with vibrant floral Muscat-like aromas. It’s very floral and lively to smell at with notes of elderflower and pear, rich floral apricot and fresh pineapple.
Yes, Glera (the grape variety Prosecco wine is made from) is known for delivering this kind of very fruity Muscat-like aromas (they’re called terpenes for those interested in the technical chemistry of wine), but in reality, not many Prosecco wines deliver them with such clarity and vibrancy as in this Terre di Marca.
So, this Organic Prosecco is very pleasant and upfront fruity on the nose!
The palate feels very soft and smooth, with silky bubbles on a round body, balanced by good acidity. A careful taster will taste some residual sugars. But in all fairness, they are very discrete and very well balanced, so you actually do not really taste any sweetness thanks to the good acidity and the bursting fruity flavors.
Explosive fresh apricot notes fill your senses, with pungent floral notes of lily as well. A touch of spicy white pepper.
Overall
An excellent utterly soft and creamy sparkling wine, crisp with good acidity yet extremely balanced with a smooth texture, delicate fruity sweetness, and a great overall balance.
A pleasant yet characterful organic Prosecco that really gives the feeling it tastes like the grapes it was made from. Outstanding concentration for flavors for the style.
Enjoy 🙂
