This Italian Pinot Grigio by Azienda Corvezzo is an organic wine coming under the Delle Venezie IGT, made from grapes grown in the Motta di Livenza area of Veneto, Italy.
Grapes are exclusively harvested by hand. Before fermentation, the grapes go through some skin contact and a cold maceration (0°C for about 6 hours) to intensify the aromatic profile of the wine.
Aging was done partially in oak barrels, while the rest was matured in stainless steel tank, before a final blending. Alcohol level is at 12,5% vol.
Tasting Notes
This Organic Pinot Grigio comes in a bright lemon-yellow color with gold hues, looking shiny and rather intense for the style. While some Grigios can be pretty pale and green-ish in color, this one looks like a proper white wine instead.
The nose displays a very clean and bright fruity character. The pear, white peach, apricot, and floral elderflower expressions of the primary fruit aromas are very pure and unspoiled. It’s vibrant and lively to smell at, like fresh aromatic grapes.
The palate feels very smooth, pretty dry and mineral too, although a touch of sweetness is in action to balance the wine out well, and underline the rich fruity flavors.
Like on the nose, stonefruit notes are dominant, together with fresh grape and floral characters.
Fine phenolics tease your taste buds with a silky texture to the finish, bringing in a touch of grassy notes, a pleasant salivating savory feel to the finish.
