Wine Review of the Non-Vintage La Cave des Vignerons de Pfaffenheim ‘Pfaff’ Crémant d’Alsace Excellence Brut, France
Score: 89/100
This sparkling white Crémant wine made by the Cave des Vignerons de Pfaffenheim in Alsace is a blend of 3 white grape varieties: Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Auxerrois.
Grapes were harvested by hand. After fermentation in bottle, using the Methode Traditionnelle (like for Champagne wine), the wine was aged on lees for at least 2 years.
Being a non-vintage cuvée, the wine received several awards over the years including Gold Medals at the Decanter World Wine Awards and the San Francisco International Wine Competition, and a Silver Medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition IWSC.
Overall Tasting Notes & Impressions
This Alsace sparkling wine comes with an elegant, slightly-pale a lemon-yellow color, looking quite mat and a little grey, yet shiny. For an overall glamorous and tempting appearance.
The nose is rather elegant too, upfront fruity and floral aromas, filled with primary aromas of peach, lemon grass, and chamomile.
Soft and smooth a texture, with a crisp acidity balanced by an oily body and obvious residual sugars, for a dry and crisp yet silk-like whole.
Bursting flavors of fresh lemon and peach jam, elderflower and lily. Very floral and fruity an expression for a dry sparkling wine, delivered with a bright and precise finesse and elegance.
Enjoy 🙂
