Wine Review 2017 Les Vignerons de Tutiac ‘Carrelet d’Estuaire’ Bordeaux Rosé, France
Score: 86/100
Carrelet d’Estuaire is a pink rosé wine made by Bordeaux cooperative winery Les Vignerons de Tutiac, from 100% Merlot grapes grown primarily around the right bank’s Northern area of Bordeaux’ viticultural region.
As a fun anecdote, promotional pink Citroen trucks branded as Carrelet d’Estuaire Rosé tour the Bordeaux region during the summer season in Bordeaux, allowing locals and tourists to taste and discover the brand.
The wine was made using the direct pressing technique, pressing the whole grapes without extended skin contact.
It’s packaging and label is inspired by landscapes and the traditional fishermen’s buildings found along the Garonne/Gironde estuary near Bordeaux.
Overall Review & Wine Tasting Notes
With a delicate and relatively pale salmon pink color, this rosé wine features a discrete aromatic profile, with fresh, clean and fruity aromas of pomegranate, pink grapefruit and lime.
The palate is dry with a crisp citrusy acidity reinforced by subtle salivating phenolics that give it a velvety texture and a salty, slightly bitter finish.
The whole feels like a crisp and zesty dry rosé, dominated by grapefruit and lime flavors
It delivers a clean and pure fruitiness from pear and apple notes, with a food-friendly mineral and delicately salty savory edge.
It’s light-bodied and somewhat watery in texture, which actually results in a positive here, making it an easy and refreshing, thirst-quenching sip with your summer barbecues, salads, and other summery dishes.
A simple yet enjoyable rosé drink, made for food-pairing with tasty entrées and antipasti.
Enjoy 🙂
