Wine Review of 2017 Giusti Longheri Pinot Grigio Delle Venezie, white DOC wine from Veneto, Italy
Score: 89+/100
The ‘Longheri’ white wine cuvée by Veneto winery Giusti is made from 100% Pinot Grigio grapes, from a selection of some of the estate’s best grapes on vineyards located in the hilly Montello and Asolo areas in the municipality Nervesa della Battaglia, somewhat in Prosecco wine country!
More specifically, the vineyard is called Longher, hence the wine’s name, a vineyard part of the Rolando estate.
Overall Tasting Notes & Impressions
A refined Pinot Grigio in an elegant bright lemon-yellow color with gold hues making it look shinier than most Grigios.
Its aromatic profile is all about elegance and discretion which is unusual for the grape and the Grigio dell Venezie style. But it’s all for the better here, giving a sense of finesse. Subtle notes of jasmine and lime, honeysuckle and pear. It’s subtly scented, floral and fruity, very pure to smell at.
The palate is utterly smooth, dry with a crisp acidity and just hint of residual sugars to provide balance to a juicy refreshing wine that let’s itself sip with ease.
Smooth oily texture on a watery thirst-quenching background like we love and expect from the Italian Pinot Grigio style. Yet, adding to the dominant citrus flavors of lemon and lime, come subtle notes of macadamia nut, laurel leaves, and orange blossom.
A Pinot Grigio that delivers in one single wine, both the easy-to-enjoy Grigio appeal, and the depth of flavors and length of a more refined and noble wine.
A typical, clean and pure, yet fine and refined expression of the Grigio Delle Venezie DOC appellation.
Enjoy 🙂
