Score: 85/100 Points
‘Spartico’ cuvée is made by organic Spanish winery Bodegas Iranzo in the Utiel-Requena D.O. area (Denominación de Origen) near the city of Valencia by the Mediterranean Coast.
This is not only an organic wine made from 50 % Tempranillo and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, but it is also more importantly a wine that contains no detectable sulfites.
Grapes are sourced from the FINCA CAÑADA HONDA Estate located about 800 to 850 meters above sea level (2700 ft.).
With no ageing in oak during the winemaking process, this wine is meant to be drunk at a young age, within 1-2 years after harvest.
Recommended food pairings include Spanish cheeses such as Manchego, Tapas, roasted meats and barbecues, stews, or pasta with spicy red sauce.
Spartico is distributed in the US by Natural Merchants Inc and is a wine suitable for vegan.
Overall Review Notes & Tasting Impressions
A juicy Spanish red, dry and with a crisp salivating acidity.
Flavors are bursting with blackberry and dark cherry, but the vibrant crispiness keeps the experience in a lively round-bodied freshness.
A wealth of dark chocolate flavors and peppery spices add some welcome depth, to an enjoyable well-rounded, well-made juicy dry red bursting with intense fruity flavors.
A food-friendly wine to be paired with tasty dishes, barbecues, tapas and salads.
Enjoy 🙂
