Wine Review of Terra Remota winery ‘Caminante’ Blanco Catalunya DO, white wine from Spain
Score: 90/100 Points
Caminante by Catalan winery Terra Remota is an unusual white blend of 61% Garnacha Blanca (grenache blanc), 24% Chardonnay, and 15% Chenin Blanc made under the D.O. Catalunya appellation near Emporda.
After pressing of the grapes, the fermentation was started at a controlled temperature (16-18°C) in tank before the ferment was transferred into French oak barrels halfway through fermentation (both new and used barrels). Caminante was then aged on fine lees for 6 to 8 months.
The annual production reaches about 12,000 bottles.
Overall Tasting Notes & Review Impressions
An excellent fragrant white wine, refreshing, floral and fruity, also featuring a sense of salty savoriness.
Easy to enjoy, it should please most demanding palates.
For pairing with seafood entrees and other tasty and herbal Mediterranean-style dishes. Perfect for warm summery nights and rich flavorsome foods.

Full Tasting Notes
This Spanish white wine comes in a bright and shiny lemon-yellow color, looking slightly pale which gives it somewhat of an elegance, although not overly pale.
The nose though, is talkative and fragrant. Honey is the dominant aroma, like a delicate acacia honey, with a sweet vegetal edge, like honey suckle.
Fruit is represented by clear confit pear, sweet lemon and dried pineapple. All in the confit and sweet-smelling spectrum with hints of mint and fragrant herbs such as thyme lifting things up a little.
Put the wine in your mouth, and it bursts in an explosion of floral flavors. Lily and elderflower are pungent and dominant, while they come with delicate pear juice and a hint of pineapple.
The whole feels crisp with a good saline acidity. But the body is rather oily and there are clear residual sugars sweetening things up a fair bit. A crisp and salivating white overall, with some savory drying phenolics giving up a touch of welcome food-friendly bitterness, but the dominant rich citrus and tropical fruit, combined with the opulent tropical flower tones, make for that tastes even sweeter that the few grams of residual sugars it actually contains.
Clear doughy and leesy notes provide depth and a pleasant biscuit feel.
Enjoy 🙂
