Uncorking a bottle of wine without a corkscrew, using just a shoe, is a bit of a myth in the wine community.
Not that many of us have actually tried it. So, does it actually work in real life?
It all starts with a moment of anxiety. You’re with that special friend(s) you have this nice bottle of wine you want to share. But no corkscrew!
There are many resources online explaining how you can use many tools and tricks to open a bottle of wine without an opener, a car key, a spoon, a blowtorch, a lighter, a hammer, a screwdriver and a screw, a knife or even a saber for Champagne.
One of them stood out for me, thanks to the owner of Mirabeau wine estate in Provence, France, a producer of fine rosé wines. Stephen Cronk showed us in one of the most viral wine videos of all times how to open a bottle of wine without an opener.
I wanted to try it for myself, and confirm whether or not it actually works…
