Barbier-Louvet Père et Fils (Barbier & sons) is a small Champagne wine producer located in the village of Tauxières Mutry.
The village’s vineyards are classified at 99 % as Premier cru.
Céline and David Barbier, brother and sister, are the sixth generation in the family to work on the property established in 1835 (a date that is paid tribute to by a mention one of their Champagne wine, the Cuvée Th.Blondel).
Barbier-Louvet Père et Fils maintains 6.85ha (17 acres) of vineyards in the Champagne appellation. They produce about 40,000 bottles per year, but also sell some of their grapes to the famous Veuve Clicquot House.
The estate’s village: Tauxières Mutry counts with 240 inhabitants with both winegrowing and farming activities. It is located in the heart of the Champagne vineyards, 15 km away from Epernay and 20 km in the South of Reims.
Barbier-Louvet’s wine-producing estate is located on the Southern slope of the Montagne de Reims area of the Côte des Noirs.
They have been owners of vineyards for generations and our champagnes are made from grapes exclusively grown in our vineyards. These extend over 9 municipalities with various grape varieties including Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
All wine-producing jobs are carried out by the owners, especially the assemblage (the most-important blending process). All wines always go through three years of ageing in cellars and are operated in the most genuine Champagne traditions.
