A wine barrel is made with long pieces of wood, generally oak, called staves.
In a normal barrel, these are warmed up with wood fire in order to be bent and given the rounded shape we know.
Did you know that barrel staves aren’t glued to each in any way, and that that waterproofing (or wineproofing should I say!!) is obtained thanks to the natural characteristics of the wood, and by tightening the staves using metal hoops?
Anyway, this artist had fun deconstructing a wine barrel, and reconstructing it an original way.
It’s useless, but beautiful… ART it is then 🙂
Or let’s call it WinePorn art!!
