2015 was a year of success for Social Vignerons.
Although SV was launched in December 2014 after many months of preparation and hard work, I will always consider 2015 as the foundation year of the website. It is the vintage Social Vignerons met and found its audience of passionate wine lovers eager to learn and share more about our favorite beverage.
It is also the year Social Vignerons received the 2015 Best New Wine Blog Award.
This was a milestone for the blog, allowing to spread the word about the quality of its content. More importantly, it was for me the acknowledgement that my efforts to produce popular wine content weren’t in vain.
This significant award was in fact what I needed to stay motivated, keep going with producing fun and interesting wine posts, and eventually dedicate even more time and hustle to developing the website.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to the #WBC2015 to receive SV’s Award 🙁
As we know, as good as it may be, a wine blog doesn’t pay the bills. Especially as Social Vignerons is in hardly any way focused on monetizing. I just couldn’t afford to fly to the US for the event.
No Award for Social Vignerons in 2016, but I will be at #WBC2016
There is a wealth of quality wine blogs out there. I guess this explains why SV went unnoticed at the Wine Blogs Awards in 2016.
All the same, my reward for the hard work on the blog over the past 12 months will be to attend the 2016 Wine Bloggers Conference in Lodi, California.
The WBC Scholarship Committee has granted Social Vignerons with the EthniFacts Diversity scholarship which will allow me to travel from my home in France to California on August 10th.
I am so delighted and excited to meet with all the fellow wine bloggers and lovers I have been exchanging and that have supported me on Social.
I am so thankful to Ethnifacts and the Scholarship Committee for placing their trust in Social Vignerons.
I will be reporting on the WBC with a few posts here on Social Vignerons. So stay tuned by subscribing to the website or our newsletter, and following us on Social Media.
See you all in Lodi, August 11-14. Come and say hello, and let’s share a glass of grape juice there 🙂
Special thanks to Thea Dwelle and Melanie Ofenloch for making this possible 🙂
This will be my second trip to California this year (I’ve been loving Cali since I worked at Chateau St Jean in Sonoma in 2002, invitations to travel there are always welcome :-).
Find out about my previous trip there for Judging at 2016 Los Angeles Int’l Wine Competition:
