I've always brought out a decent red burgundy, pinot noir, with pan fried dick breast, regardless of whether a simple orange reduction or a more complex raspberry red wine balsamic sauce. Always works!

For Valentine's Day, a French bistro is offering duck leg, without stating if roasted or what. I am presuming t will be roasted, ad served with potatoes au gratin with mushroom sauce. This bistro has a god wine list, so I expect to choose a really good pairing. Any specific suggestions?

Duck is a New Year's Eve tradition in my house. We love it. In years past, we've had it with Cabernet Franc, but this year, all we had was some Argentinian Malbec that my in-laws gave us. It worked fine with the duck, and a side of mixed long grain and wild rice with sage and mushrooms. Most wine-food pairing sites or articles don't mention Malbec, but it doesn't overpower the duck, nor does the duck overpower the wine.
