Hi Tony, very sorry to hear about your bad experience. It’s always so frustrating, especially on expensive wine. Where you able to return the bottle? I guess that’s another problem, often you keep a wine for several years only to find out it’s corked and you can;t really go back to the shop years later to swap the flask, can you?
Glad the video was useful for clarifying things a little. Yes, cork taint can be very powerful and sticky to the palate, clearly one of the reasons you want to sniff you wine thoroughly before sipping, and also why you want to smell your cork to gather more info before tasting, despite what many people say (including sommeliers!). Thanks, just watched this after tasting a rather expensive corked wine at home. The taint seems to have affected my palate as that tang is still with me despite opening and tasting a different wine. So I guess in my current mood give me a screw cap. Tony, London.

Pretty sure you meant parts per trillion… At 1ppm you will be blown away by the corked aroma and scarred for life! Enjoyed the video!
