Wine Reviews & Tasting Notes
Location
Cantina Bellavista Toscana is located in the hills of the Lajatico town (part of the Pisa province), birth place of tenor singer Andrea Bocelli.
The vineyards of the company are close to the famous ‘Teatro del Silenzio’ where an important concert by the world-famous tenor is held in Summer every year.
The land around Lajatico, in the heart of Tuscany, is famous for its fertility. It was and is made even more important by its proximity to the Etruscan town of Volterra, and the medieval town of San Gimignano. The location is strategic, being close to both Pisa and Florence airport and to the most interesting cultural and food and wine attractions amidst stunning rural landscapes.
Brief history
The adventure of Mario and Maria Fulceri begins in Lajatico, in the middle of the Pisa province countryside in 1960.
For over fifty years this couple had been devoted with attention and passion to the breeding of poultry.
Thanks to their resourcefulness and competence, the ‘small farm’ of Mario and Maria transformed over time into a pretty productive farm where the production of white meat, olive oil, grape and wine still takes place today.
The spectacular location of Bellavista Toscana, the food that is eaten in its restaurant, based on the authentic flavors of this land and enriched by the excellence of the wines of the Fulceri family, all “at 0 kilometers”, make it a unique place in the world.
The winery was born in Bellavista Toscana Lajatico in the beginning of XXth century but was restored and enlarged in 1990 with the aim of promoting the culture of good wine and typical products of these lands lying on the hills of Pisa.
The grapes, hand-picked according to a very precise selection criteria, go from the careful care of the winemaker to the manufacturing and bottling, where nothing is left to chance.
Today, Mario and Maria’s daughter Stefania, with her husband Maurizio Modica, the winery manager, has the honor to go on with the family activities in the tradition of the Lajatico territory.
Climate
Typical Tuscan Mediterranean climate, with vineyards exposed to the South.
