Score: 91/100
The Empreinte cuvée by Champagne Geoffroy is focused on revealing the expression of mainly the Pinot Noir grape variety from Premier Cru village vineyards in Cumières, Champagne, France.
It is a blend of 75% Pinot Noir, with 20% Chardonnay, and 5% Pinot Meunier.
Two thirds of the blend are aged for 8 months in oak vats to mature and give a slight oxidative character.
Tasting Notes:
The tasted wine was disgorged in February 2015 (see back-label image below).
Very subtle and elegant nose: floral and mineral.
It is filled with elegant Jasmin tones. There is also a slight earthiness and silex feel to the aroma profile, providing extra complexity and intrigue.
It smells very fresh, like a cold misty morning. That’s the closest an impression I had about it!! J
The palate is very precise, dominated by a mineral crystalline acidity.
Flavors are floral too, with mushroom notes increasing the depth.
Mid-length citrus finish.
