2004 Champagne Pol Roger Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill Brut: Refined & Complex!
This Prestige Cuvée Champagne was COMMENDED and recommended as a personal favorite at Social Vignerons Prestige Cuvée Champagne AWARDS.
This vintage Prestige cuvée made as a tribute to Sir Winston Churchill’s taste for Pol Roger wines, comes in a shiny lemon color with plenty of gold hues.
The nose is a little introvert and closed at first, mainly nutty and briochy. Yet you can smell it’s layered and complex.
The palate strikes by its smoothness. Such an oily texture and fine foamy bubbles with a relatively mild acidity. It tastes dry but with an impression of warm sweet lusciousness from confit lemon flavors.
The great balance reveals many layers of secondary and tertiary flavors: walnut, yeast, brioche, wax, sweet spices and many more. The finish is even more telling about the concentration and refinement of this wine: extremely long and layered filled with citrus liqueur, peppery notes, smoke, roasted nuts, and the list goes on and on.
A Champagne with extreme concentration and balance, that has acquired immense depth and length with aging on its lees. Its warming fruitiness, leesiness and minerality delight with a superbly refined and complex palate.
