This is Viticcio’s first ever white wine.
The winery based in the Chianti area of Tuscany produced its first Classico in 1966 but this white Vermentino only came out with the 2010 vintage.
The wine is made from 100% Vermentino grapes from Viticcio’s vineyards in the Maremma zone of Tuscany.
About 12,000 bottles of it are produced each year.
Tasting Notes
Slightly pale lemon-yellow color, a little ‘gris’.
Main aromas before swirling the wine are those of meadow flowers and slightly vegetal notes, like warm acacia leaves. After swirling the glass, some rather-intense lime/lemon notes are revealed. A fresh, lifted, not-so-intense yet enjoyable nose overall then.
The palate confirms we’re here with an easy-to-drink, dry, floral and lemony wine, with a good aromatic intensity. Good acidity underlines the freshness of the wine.
Well-made. Long finish, perhaps a little sulfuric.
