Patriarche’s Burgundy Crémant sparkling wine is made predominately from Chardonnay grapes, with Pinot Noir using the traditional method of bottle fermentation like Champagne wine.
The base wines are bottled in January of the year following harvesting and aged on lees in their bottles for 12 to 15 months.
Tasting Notes
This Burgundy bubbly comes in an elegant lemon-yellow color, looking clear and bright, quite shiny in fact, with hints of gold and green hues.
The nose is subtle and elegant too, featuring precise fruity notes delivered with a clean expression, lime and lemon, apple and fresh pineapple. Add hints of whipped cream aromas for an overall tempting aromatic profile.
The palate features a soft creaminess, with smooth bubbles containing the lively acidity. The dosage (added sugar) seems a little high, giving this Brut a slight off-dry feel which underlines the fruitiness of dominant citrusy and stonefruit flavors.
Yet, the overall crisp acidity provides much freshness and a lime-like impression to the tasting. Rather long a finish, of touches of vegetal acacia leaf notes and lime, augmented by slightly drying phenolics for a salivating velvety drying and savory feel to the finish.
Overall
A precise, fresh, crisp, and fruity sparkling wine, delivering sharp lime and lemon flavors mostly, in a coat of very French elegance and finesse of the bubbles. Well-made and accurate, with a fruity and slightly creamy expression, enjoyable.
So, enjoy…
