Wine Review of Marc & Emma Bournazeau’s Terra Remota Ales Negres Garnatxa Vi de Taula Tinto from Catalunya, Spain
Score: 88/100
This red vino by Catalan winery Terra Remota, part of the Ales range is made from 100% Grenache Noir grapes (aka Garnacha Tinta in Spanish or Garnatxa Negre in Catalan).
Although coming under a generic non-vintage table wine appellation (Vi de Taula), it is made in Catalonia and the wine reviewed here is the 2017 vintage.
Overall Tasting Notes & Impressions
With a youthful and rather intense ruby red color boosted up by purple hues, this Spanish Grenache red wine boasts deep and intense upfront fruity aromas of dark cherry to the nose. Like a mixed berry fruit jam it smells like, although the scents are fresh, right in between very ripe blackberry and cooked juicy berries. In any case, it’s tempting and deep to smell at!
Add smoothening and sweetening vanilla and lifted black pepper for a complete picture of the aromatic profile.
The palate is equally generous in dark red fruity flavors, on a soft and velvety texture with a rather round oily body. Tannins do provide a little grip to the finish, but it is for the better, adding character to a round and smooth tasting experience.
A very generous Grenache like we love to taste from the grape. Generously fruity, it’s upfront and filled with sun-ripen red berries, while the body is opulent and satisfying, yet maintaining a good acidity for a nice crisp and dry balance.
Food & Wine Pairings?
An upfront and franc wine to enjoy with grilled meats, barbecues, various summery salads and other herbal Mediterranean cuisine-inspired/inclined dishes.
Enjoy 🙂
