I had tasted this same wine (with the old-style label) at the Dopff au Moulin winery in June 2016, find the previous review at 2015 Dopff au Moulin Riesling.
Tasting Notes
This white wine comes is a bright lemon-yellow color, a little pale like most dry Rieslings.
The nose is fresh and with clear pure aromas. It surprises by its dominant floral of elderflower and lemon tree blossoms. With a touch of lime and white peperry tones, just a discrete hint of grassiness, this is a very elegant floral/fruity nose.
Expectedly the palate is dry with solid crisp acidity that underlines zesty lime flavors. Just a touch of very discrete sweetness backs up a nice oily texture to balance out the acidity well so it doesn’t feel aggressive, but simply rather fresh, lemony, yet ripe.
Discrete bitters and slight phenolics provide an enjoyable salivating feel to the finish.
Overall
A very well made elegant, floral, and fruity dry Riesling with an upfront approach to fruitiness.
Its citrus fruit flavors are ripe and come with a very smooth and refined finesse for an easy refreshing feel, yet with some body and depth.
Enjoy 🙂
