As an introduction to her writing, Amy Lieberfarb owns a website she shares pieces of her daily life and travels: www.siponthisjuice.com.
So you too can get to know Amy, in a quick Q&A interview, I’ve asked her to tell us more about her work, her passion for California wine country, and her blog.
Meet Amy Lieberfarb:
Q: Can you summarize who you are and what your wine blog does?
A: In the world of wine country marketing I tend to wear many hats during a typical work week. As the founder of #SonomaChat and #NapaChats, I spend time traveling through Sonoma and Napa Valley visiting with winery owners, winemakers, chefs and their wine loving fans, documenting the journey for my own followers along the way.
Ever present in the Sonoma wine and food scene, you can count on me to be found at events, in the vineyards, attending seminars, and raising a glass at shindigs of the highest caliber.
My favorite pairing with these activities is food. Local California cuisine is a subject I am well versed in too since it pairs so well with my wine glass. Bubbling enthusiasm and knowledge of the industry, paired with an ability to connect with my audience and combined with my bold way of speaking… all come together to influence wine buyers both here at home and internationally.
Weekly, I host a LIVE program on twitter, an online wine education forum featuring celebrity wine personalities as guest hosts to audiences across the globe from 6-7pm PST Wednesday’s using hashtag #SonomaChat. For my local winery clients, I offer services including a thorough analysis and deep understanding of their personal digital footprint including social media communication management, content guidance and success measurement framework. Teaching my clients how to build a personal branding strategy that helps them and their business grow, maintaining good social media practices and keeping many steps ahead of the competition…. is what I do best.
My approach to marketing, involves an understanding of online algorithms that others simply do not possess due to a background in website design and computer coding. I spent the previous 12 years as owner of a web design and marketing company. I am able to apply this coding knowledge to further my winery clients marketing initiatives quicker and more efficiently than other public relations or marketing firms being an expert in both the wine industry and in viral social media marketing.
I teach a winery, step by step, how to target their exact demographics on social media and how to apply viral marketing tactics and SEO basics to the world of social media creating instant brand recognition for past, present and future consumers. My blog covers each leg of this journey and chronicle’s all of the industry knowledge I have gained in this time.
I work with many award-winning wineries to promote brand recognition and further social media marketing efforts including high-profile wineries such as Laurel Glen Vineyard, Patz & Hall Winery, Iron Horse Vineyards, Zazu Restaurant and Jordan Winery to name just a few.
I love what I do and I believe it shows through in my work.
Q: When did you start your wine blog and why?
A: I am currently working on my first book. As an introduction to my writing and to the Wine Country Lifestyle, I’m both editor and journalist at Sip On This Juice, a wine blog, where followers can learn more about my daily life and travels.
After gaining acknowledgement locally and while working with many top wine and food brands, I gained a reputation for being a reliable source of social media content creation for wineries in the Northern California area.
I provide and develop strategic plans for a winery that generates traditional media coverage, social engagement, creates a community and personal relationships with users as well as creating consumer buzz and wine sales. Working to develop and refine their own narratives, from editing a single article to establishing content strategy for a whole site… Sip On This Juice blog is my personal voice along this wine marketing journey.
Q: What topic(s) does your blog cover and how do you generally describe the angle to your writing?
A: Sonoma & Napa Valley Wine, Food, Fashion, Travel & Lifestyle is my game.
Q: What are your favorite wine events? In other words: if fans would like to meet you in person someday, where are they sure to find you?
A: I enjoy winemaker dinners and fundraisers best where a sit-down meal, owners or winemaker is on hand and entertainment is also included. Wine and food events always catch my attention as do sparkling wine and pinot noir oriented outings and shindigs. Spending my time in wine country visiting wineries is lovely, but to really help hone my palette, I also enjoy events where many wineries gather together to pour their best bottles for guests. All in one place.
Q: What are your favorite social media channels, the ones you like most to exchange and engage around your content?
A: Instagram is really becoming my favorite as I love photography and I find it to be fantastic for engagement as well.
I spend a lot of time on Twitter too and would say it is home to the majority of my audience, so with our weekly #SonomaChat program on Wednesday’s, it’s likely you will find me posting often and sharing amazing content from the wine country lifestyle on twitter and Instagram almost exclusively.
Q: Finally, what do you do to relax outside of wine?
A: Haha…. my life outside of wine… Is that a thing? Kinda like unicorns!?!
On the serious side… I am the mother of two amazing teenage girls and they take up the majority of what little free time I have… along with the dog & cat maintenance schedule. I also enjoy traveling, the great outdoors, the California coast, spending waaay too much time in my garden each year due to the fabulous rewards, a delicious meal with friends or with a handsome gentleman, eating waaay too many oysters (with bubbles of course) and I also enjoy volunteering with children and animals. I am Founder of the nonprofit ‘Sonoma Readers Are Leaders’ where we focus on improving libraries and helping to re-value our librarians in Sonoma County Public Schools specifically drawing on monetary support from local wineries and food businesses. Fantastic pairing… Helping future generations readers succeed…. paired with enjoying food and wine at the same time.
Relaxing for real…?!? Haha. That is a foreign concept to the entrepreneur.
