Overall Review Notes & Tasting Impressions
A delightful Pinot Noir wine, featuring a gorgeous acidity and fruit freshness, pungent ripe red berry flavors augmented by a wealth of varied and balanced spices, and discrete oak vanilla tones all coming together into a generous yet precise Pinot Noir.
Earthy, spicy, and deep as well, the whole is layered and complex, yet utterly easy to enjoy from such precision and extrovert fruitiness.
Somewhat like a lighter-bodied than average Central Otago Pinot Noir, but certainly reminding of the typical upfront New Zealand fruit character, with the depth and complexity only Pinot Noir made with care provide.
A genuine success of a wine. One to experience…
Full Tasting Notes
This German Pinot Noir comes in a garnet red color of medium intensity, a bright red you can see through to the core, filled with oranges hues. It’s quite dense for a Pinot, not overly so.
The nose is quite pungent, fresh and vibrant, boasting a wealth of fruity notes of ripe sour cherry and raspberry. Black and white pepper lift things up with a clear warming and comforting spiciness, helped in that with some sweet spices such as clove and cinnamon.
A sense of discrete earthiness provide depth to an aromatic profile that otherwise smells super fruity, and interesting!
Put the wine in your mouth, and the palate give this Pinot all its harmony. A vibrant acidity underlines the pungent dominant sour cherry flavors, but the overall ripeness of the wine, adding fresh blackberry and strawberry, deliver a sense of fruity sweetness balancing the whole, for an overall ripe and rather sweet feeling.
It’s spicy too, with hints of chili flavors, floral, with clear scents of violet flower, providing a warming impression from the alcohol, the sweet spices and a ripe fruit characters.
Tannins are soft and velvety, for seamless, flawless, and smooth tasting experience.
Enjoy 🙂
